Comparative evaluation of ultrasonography with magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of shoulder ailments

Background: Shoulder pain encompasses a diverse array of pathologies and can affect as many one quarter the population depending on age risk factors. It may be caused by problems with neck, glenohumeral joint, acromioclavicular rotator cuff, or other soft tissues around shoulder. Aims Objectives: The main aim study is to compare diagnostic accuracy ultrasound (US) shoulder magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in diagnosis ailments. Materials Methods: This comparative done Department Radiology, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College Hospital, Pondicherry. In total, 54 patients were included for ultrasonography (USG) MRI examination statistical analysis was using Statistical Package Social Sciences Version 21.0 software. Results: Subacromial-Subdeltoid Bursitis most common finding. US detects partial-thickness tears sensitivity 63.3% specificity 70.8% full-thickness 80.0% 91.8%. Trauma etiology only few patients. more sensitive than USG identifying labral capsular pathologies. specific modality establishment pain. useful cases which uncertain USG. Conclusion: recommended secondary method since it provides information about extent tendons has lower artifact risk.
